The Context
According to Supermercado Pague Menos' internal research, very few people knew about their offers and promotions. Even those who did struggled to understand how to use them, or found out the promotions weren't valid in their local region. Historically, these promotions were distributed via physical flyers, but customer engagement with print media was rapidly declining. Digitizing this experience became a key strategic opportunity.
The Goal: We were brought in to build the new Benefits Club application from the ground up. Key features included viewing and activating localized offers, browsing campaigns, a 'Savings Tracker' (Econometro) to show accumulated savings over time, and a system to participate in gamified sweepstakes.
The Challenge
Low Promotion Awareness
Customers were largely unaware of ongoing offers due to a heavy reliance on outdated physical flyers that were no longer capturing attention.
Usability & Context Issues
Existing promotions were confusing to use or geographically restricted without clear communication, leading to frustration at checkout.
Lack of Engagement
The loyalty initiatives lacked digital touchpoints, gamification, and personalized tracking to keep users coming back.
Digital Transformation
Shifting a traditional supermarket customer base into an active, digital-first mobile ecosystem required an extremely intuitive and rewarding UX.
The Solution
Digital Offer Activation
Designed a centralized mobile hub where users can easily browse, filter, and activate personalized offers that are guaranteed valid for their specific region.
Savings Tracker (Econometro)
Created a gamified dashboard showing users exactly how much they saved over time, reinforcing the app's tangible value and encouraging repeat usage.
Campaigns & Sweepstakes
Integrated campaign participation directly into the app, making it effortless to join sweepstakes, track digital lucky numbers, and view results seamlessly.
Low-Code Frontend Development
Beyond UX/UI design, I actively developed the application's frontend using Flutterflow. This low-code platform approach drastically accelerated our time-to-market, allowing us to rapidly iterate and bridge the gap between design and native code. I also used Auth0 to implement authentication, and N8N to create automations on the platform.
The Results
The Pague Menos Benefits Club app successfully digitized the promotional experience, driving higher engagement and redemption rates while entirely modernizing the supermarket's loyalty program for the mobile era.
